Volex Labs / Forge / Gusset plate generator — text to CAD.

Gusset plate generator — text to CAD.

Describe the gusset — two legs and a thickness — and Volex Forge builds a real right-triangle web and returns a STEP, STL or DXF.

It is built as a triangle, not a rectangle with a triangle drawn on it. The volume is half leg × leg × thickness, so the mass and the cut area are the ones you will actually pay for.

Frequently asked

Can the legs be different lengths?
Yes. Give two different numbers and you get the asymmetric gusset; the thickness is taken as the smallest of the three figures.
Is the hypotenuse straight or curved?
Straight. A clipped or re-entrant gusset with a curved free edge is a different shape — describe it and check what comes back, because this template builds the straight-edged triangle.
Does it check the connection?
No — this is geometry. For a connection design check to Eurocode, use Volex Anvil.
Which format should I use?
STEP for CAD and CNC, STL for 3D printing, DXF for the 2D profile.
